CLB65 SUV revealed in finished form

CL Yachts has released the first photographs of its CLB65 SUV, a new 19.7-metre sport yacht developed for private owner-operators. The Hong Kong-based builder says the first example completed sea trials during the summer and has now reached Hong Kong.

The yacht is expected to receive a private showing for invited clients before appearing at the Lantau Yacht Club Boat Show from 6 to 8 November 2026. A further Hong Kong International Boat Show appearance is scheduled for 3 to 6 December.

A sporty alternative to the flybridge

The new SUV version evolves the existing CLB65 platform by eliminating the flybridge in favour of a single-level main-deck living area. This lowers the visual profile and creates a different balance between indoor space and outdoor activity.

The design is intended for owners who prefer operating their own boat and moving easily between the cockpit and saloon. Its arrangement contrasts with more traditional two-deck flybridge yachts.

A 28-knot sea-trial result

CL Yachts reports a top speed of 28 knots at half load using twin Caterpillar C18 engines, each rated at 1,136 horsepower. The shipyard also recorded a cruising speed of 21 knots during trials.

Buyers may alternatively select twin Volvo Penta D13 diesels, rated at 1,000 horsepower each. Actual results vary with engine specification, loading, sea state and hull condition.

Composite structure and design

The hull was developed with naval architect Howard Apollonio and engineering specialists Gurit. Resin-infused composite construction is reinforced with carbon fibre in selected areas to help control weight and provide structural strength.

The builder lists a full-load displacement of approximately 47,760 kilograms and a beam of 5.85 metres. This combination provides space for substantial accommodation within a boat under 20 metres.

A flexible activity space aft

One of the unusual features is a multipurpose stern space that can support fishing, diving and watersports, or be adapted as a beach club. The builder also describes the possibility of using this area as temporary sleeping accommodation.

A teak-laid bathing platform extends access towards the water, making the stern central to the owner's intended cruising routine. Exact layouts should be checked against the chosen specification.

Outdoor lounges forward and aft

The aft lounge provides a setting for alfresco meals and relaxed seating, with an outdoor bar and stools. Forward, the bow lounge adds sunpads and seating in a more private area away from the main cockpit.

These spaces offer different choices as the sun and wind shift throughout the day. The practical division is useful for owners who travel with family or several guests.

One connected main deck

A key design objective is to combine the saloon, galley and aft cockpit on a single level. Sliding doors and an opening galley window are intended to make conversation and service flow between indoors and outside.

The saloon includes large windows, an opening roof section and a rotating television, while the twin-seat helm sits forward. These features support the builder's emphasis on owner operation and social cruising.

Interiors by Supertomato Studio

Supertomato Studio created the yacht's contemporary interior design, using natural materials and restrained colours. Owners may choose between walnut and white oak finishes, allowing some individual character within a consistent layout.

The builder describes a home-like environment rather than a highly formal interior. Buyers will want to examine storage, lighting and practical surfaces as closely as decoration.

Three guest cabins below

The accommodation features a full-beam main cabin with ensuite bathroom, a forward VIP cabin and a convertible twin guest cabin. Additional utility or crew space can form part of the lower-deck arrangement.

The builder describes accommodation for six guests plus one crew member, although the owner's final specification can affect how spaces are used. Large hull windows bring natural light to the main sleeping area.

Approaching its Asian debut

The completed first CLB65 SUV will be shown to selected clients and brokers before its public appearances in November and December. The shipyard's official specifications also list a draft of approximately 1.59 metres and fuel capacity of about 4,000 litres.

The new photographs establish that this is a completed yacht rather than a computer rendering. Pricing, availability and any future regional show dates should be confirmed directly with CL Yachts.
