Maritimo brings the S50 to American buyers

Australian yacht builder Maritimo will present the S50 Sedan Motor Yacht to the Americas at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 28 October to 1 November 2026. The model had its global launch at Sanctuary Cove earlier in the year, so this is a regional debut rather than a newly announced concept.

The 50-foot vessel is positioned for experienced owner-operators who want offshore capability in a manageable size. Maritimo sees a gap in the North American market for a yacht that combines practical handling with the spaces needed for longer cruising.

A sedan format with an offshore focus

The S50 uses a sedan configuration with enclosed accommodation and a large sheltered cockpit. The design prioritises protection from the weather while allowing owners and guests to move easily between the saloon and outdoor areas.

This approach can be attractive to those who spend extended time aboard rather than using the yacht solely for short day trips. Access to the water and entertaining areas still remain an important part of the overall arrangement.

Shaft-drive engineering

Maritimo has retained conventional shaft-drive propulsion as a central feature of the S50's design. The builder argues that straightforward, proven systems improve long-term ownership by simplifying servicing and maintenance.

The philosophy favours reliable offshore performance rather than introducing complexity for its own sake. Prospective buyers should review the actual engine installation and service requirements with the manufacturer.

Accommodation for guests

Two staterooms are situated below deck, each with its own bathroom arrangement. The forward VIP stateroom may be configured with twin berths or a double, giving owners flexibility depending on how they usually travel.

A convertible settee in the saloon expands potential overnight capacity to six people. That total is based on using the convertible arrangement and should not be confused with six separate permanent berths.

Space for longer journeys

The interior incorporates substantial storage as well as domestic appliances, including a washer and dryer. These details are intended to make the boat more comfortable for travellers who remain aboard for several days or weeks.

On long coastal cruises, laundry and practical stowage become essential rather than optional luxuries. Maritimo has given these functions a deliberate place in the layout.

The galley and saloon

The S50 places its cooking and living spaces together in the main cabin, providing a sociable environment in which guests can converse during meals or passages. Large windows introduce natural light and help maintain awareness of the surroundings.

The enclosed arrangement also creates a comfortable retreat when conditions outside become less inviting. Exact finishes and equipment can vary according to owner specification and market.

Handling and owner operation

At 50 feet, the S50 is designed to be approachable for owners who prefer operating their own yacht. Its compact dimensions relative to larger motor yachts are intended to make docking, berthing and managing everyday tasks less demanding.

Training, local regulations and experience remain important for safe operation. The builder's description should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the boat can be operated without the appropriate skills.

A strategic addition to the range

Maritimo has an established reputation in the 50- to 75-foot category and describes the S50 as an entry point for new owners. It can also appeal to existing Maritimo customers seeking a slightly smaller vessel while retaining a familiar offshore design philosophy.

The new sedan sits alongside larger motor yachts rather than replacing the whole range. Its appeal will depend on the owner's intended cruising programme, preferred accommodation and operating style.

North American service support

The company emphasises its Maritimo Americas customer-service network as part of the yacht's proposition in the United States. Access to knowledgeable dealers and maintenance support is especially relevant for owners considering more ambitious trips.

Buyers should confirm their nearest authorised service locations and the warranty applicable to their specific hull. Regional support arrangements can be as important as the specification sheet.

Fort Lauderdale presentation

The S50 will be available to view at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, alongside many other new models and regional premieres. Visitors can use the event to examine the layout in person and discuss optional equipment with the builder.

As the public presentation approaches, schedules and berth details should be confirmed with Maritimo or the show organiser. The verified announcement concerns the forthcoming American debut, not a claim that the show has already begun.
