Award recognition across new designs
French builder Jeanneau says five boats in its current portfolio have received nominations across major European yacht and powerboat award schemes. Its 12 October 2026 announcement brings together recognition for its larger cruising sailboat line with a varied group of new powerboats.
The awards cover different kinds of boating and should not be treated as a direct competition between every craft in the range. A six-metre centre-console and a fourteen-metre sailing cruiser have quite different purposes, safety considerations and accommodation expectations.
The new nominations are a useful indicator of attention from marine-industry panels, but a nomination is not the same as winning. Buyers should also evaluate the actual specification and a sea trial when comparing boats rather than relying on awards as a guarantee of suitability.
Sun Odyssey 455 nominated in sailing categories
The new Sun Odyssey 455 has been nominated for European Yacht of the Year 2027 and the 2026 British Yachting Awards, where it is competing in the Cruising Yacht of the Year category. The approximately fourteen-metre sailing yacht places particular emphasis on comfortable cruising and straightforward deck movement.
Jeanneau describes a contemporary hull and ergonomic arrangement with a light-filled saloon and flexible accommodation choices. Those design choices can matter greatly to owners who sail as couples or families and spend considerable time aboard rather than using the boat primarily as a day vessel.
The European award results are expected during boot Düsseldorf on 23 January 2027, while the British Yachting Awards results are due in the January edition of Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting. These are future announcements, not prizes already awarded.
Powerboats shortlisted in several categories
The redesigned Cap Camarat 6.0 CC has been nominated for European Powerboat of the Year 2026 after its public debut at La Rochelle. Its modular arrangement and modern hull styling are directed at buyers who want an adaptable dayboat for coastal trips and watersports.
Jeanneau also lists the Merry Fisher 1095 Flybridge for the Best for Family category in the Best of Boats awards. The TH33 power catamaran appears in the Best for Fun category, while the electric-oriented Sea Loft 480 is among the Best Electric finalists.
Those awards will be decided under different judging criteria, reflecting the distinct uses of each design. The 2026 Best of Boats results are scheduled for 26 November at the Berlin Boat Show, and each finalist remains subject to the published judging process.
What the nominations mean for boat owners
Awards can draw attention to models buyers may otherwise overlook, especially when several new designs reach the market in a single season. Yet the most meaningful decision factors remain access to local servicing, intended cruising area, running costs and how comfortably the boat works with its usual crew.
A prospective owner interested in the Sun Odyssey 455 will make different comparisons from someone considering the smaller Cap Camarat centre-console. Shared manufacturer branding does not make these boats interchangeable, and individual equipment packages may vary between markets.
Jeanneau is inviting customers to examine the nominated vessels through its dealer and exhibition network. The final awards remain to be determined, and the builder’s announcement should be read as an update on industry shortlists rather than a statement of completed victories.
