Intellian Technologies has opened a 75,500-square-foot manufacturing campus in California, marking the company’s first large-scale production facility outside South Korea. The site is already operational and also serves as Intellian’s new US headquarters, adding North American capacity as demand for non-geostationary satellite infrastructure grows.
The campus supplements Intellian’s two manufacturing sites in Seoul and is focused heavily on gateway antennas and other ground-segment hardware used by NGSO satellite networks. The company says the investment is intended to increase production scale while bringing manufacturing closer to key US customers and partners.
The campus adds manufacturing outside South Korea
Until now, Intellian’s large-scale manufacturing base has been concentrated in Seoul, so the California facility changes the geographic structure of its supply chain. A second major production region can reduce dependence on one manufacturing location and shorten response times for North American projects.
The site also places engineering, headquarters and production functions closer together in the US market. That can help operators during large deployments because technical issues can be addressed without every decision passing through a distant factory.
NGSO gateway systems are a primary focus
The new production lines include Intellian gateway antenna systems used to connect non-geostationary satellite constellations with terrestrial networks. These ground systems are critical to LEO and multi-orbit services even though yacht owners usually see only the terminal installed on the vessel.
Growing satellite capacity at sea depends on both ends of that connection working reliably. Investment in gateways therefore supports the same connectivity ecosystem that is bringing lower-latency broadband and hybrid satellite services to yachts.
The site also supports government terminals
Alongside commercial gateway products, the campus is producing government, tactical and WGS-approved multi-band terminals. Intellian says that combination improves supply-chain resilience across both commercial and government demand.
Dual-use production can increase scale and engineering investment, although the requirements of yacht connectivity remain different from military applications. The common benefit is access to a larger manufacturing base and faster product development across satellite hardware.
A larger production base supports maritime connectivity growth
Intellian has expanded rapidly across GEO, LEO and multi-orbit maritime communications, including flat-panel terminals and certified safety systems. The California campus gives the company more capacity to supply the infrastructure behind those services as operators deploy larger constellations.
For yacht owners, the factory itself will never be visible onboard, but its output can influence equipment availability and service expansion. More manufacturing capacity may help connectivity providers roll out new networks faster and reduce delays when demand for terminals and gateways rises sharply.
