Volume is a defining feature of the 510

The Hanse 510 uses a modern hull form and substantial beam to create accommodation volume the builder emphasises as one of the yacht's principal strengths. The interior can be arranged for a relatively small owner party or configured with additional cabins and berths for larger family use.

Hanse says the options programme allows more than one hundred layout combinations, so the same hull can be adapted around different priorities. Owners can choose between private space, guest capacity, additional bathrooms, utility areas and a separate crew cabin.

The tender garage is unusually large for the class

A major practical feature is the transom tender garage, supported by Hanse's Smart Tender System for launching and recovery. Housing a tender internally avoids towing it or permanently occupying the foredeck, while the opening transom also creates a useful bathing platform.

Tender handling can be one of the biggest compromises on a 16-metre sailing yacht because storage competes directly with accommodation and cockpit volume. Hanse makes the garage a core part of the hull architecture rather than a small locker added after the main layout.

Easy Sailing remains central to the deck plan

The cockpit and sail-control arrangement are designed for short-handed operation, with a self-tacking jib philosophy and control lines intended to reduce the number of crew needed for routine manoeuvres. Twin helms preserve visibility while separating much of the working sail gear from the social cockpit.

Owners can still specify the yacht for more performance-oriented sailing, but the base concept focuses on making a large cruiser manageable by a couple or small crew. That broadens the model's appeal beyond experienced race crews and professional sailing teams.

The current model remains part of Hanse's active range

Hanse continues to list the 510 in its current sailing-yacht range alongside newer models such as the Hanse 461 and Hanse 590. The builder's latest site also continues to promote its fast-cruising and easy-sailing philosophy across the range.

For buyers, the 510's current relevance is therefore not a new launch but an established platform still supported by the factory. Its combination of a large garage, extensive configuration choices and simplified handling keeps it competitive in the premium 50-foot cruising sector.
