Barcelona becomes the next stop after Cannes
Fountaine Pajot is taking the FP55 to Barcelona after introducing the model internationally at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The Spanish appearance gives the 17-metre catamaran another important Mediterranean stage while the model is still early in its commercial launch cycle.
That timing allows prospective owners to inspect the yacht before it becomes a familiar sight in marinas and charter fleets. It also gives the builder another opportunity to collect buyer feedback while demonstrating the FP55 alongside established models in the same range.
The FP55 targets long-range private cruising
The FP55 sits above the FP48 in Fountaine Pajot's sailing-catamaran family and is aimed at owners wanting more accommodation and deck volume without crossing into superyacht dimensions. Its size keeps it within the practical production-yacht market while supporting longer periods aboard.
Owners at this level often expect multiple social zones, stronger privacy between cabins and storage suitable for extended cruising. The larger platform gives the design team more freedom to separate those functions while preserving easy movement between interior and exterior spaces.
A larger catamaran still needs manageable operation
Fountaine Pajot continues to promote ease of sailing as a core part of its design philosophy, even as models grow in size and equipment. For private owners, that matters because increased volume is only useful if the yacht remains practical to handle with a modest crew.
Systems integration, deck ergonomics and visibility from the helm therefore become as important as interior styling. Buyers inspecting the FP55 in Barcelona can assess those operational details directly rather than relying on launch photography and headline specifications.
Side-by-side comparison should help buyers
The FP55 will be displayed with the FP41, FP44, FP48 and Samana 59, giving visitors several reference points across the builder's portfolio. That makes it easier to see where the FP55 sits in terms of scale, accommodation and the step up from smaller owner-operated catamarans.
For buyers considering a yacht around 17 metres, Barcelona provides an early opportunity to compare the new model within its own family before looking across competing brands. The show runs at Port Vell from 14 to 18 October 2026.
