FJORD is presenting the new 440 Open at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, bringing one of the most significant additions to its current range directly to the water for its show premiere. The new model develops the brand's established open-yacht formula with a redesigned cockpit, stronger emphasis on transformable social space and a more refined interior created with Design Unlimited.
The 440 Open joins the FJORD 490 Open and FJORD 39 XL at the brand's Cannes stand. While its profile remains recognisably FJORD, the new yacht introduces several functional ideas intended to change how the cockpit and bathing platform are used through a full day on the water.
A reversible lounge changes the aft cockpit
The social centre of the 440 Open is its open cockpit, where a dining area and opening galley are arranged around an electrically reversible aft bench. At the touch of a control, the bench changes from conventional cockpit seating into a stern-facing lounge looking directly across the bathing platform and wake.
That transformation allows the same area to move between dining, conversation and waterside relaxation without requiring loose furniture or a completely different deck arrangement. A 55-inch television can also lower from the T-Top, adding entertainment while keeping the screen concealed when it is not being used.
Up to 960 hp from twin Volvo Penta engines
FJORD has retained inboard propulsion for the new model, with twin Volvo Penta engines forming the basis of the installation. The standard configuration delivers a combined 680 horsepower, while the optional twin D6-480 package raises total output to 960 horsepower.
The helm has been developed around integrated digital controls, joystick operation and purpose-designed seating. A six-camera system provides additional views around the yacht during manoeuvring and docking, while the wider wrap-around windscreen increases protection at the driving position.
The bathing platform becomes part of the living space
A hydraulically operated bathing platform extends the aft deck directly towards the sea. It can be lowered to simplify swimming access and is designed to accommodate equipment including a fully inflated Williams 280 Jet Tender, a SEABOB or other water toys.
An integrated telescoping ladder adjusts with the platform position, allowing the stern to function as more than a simple boarding point. Combined with the reversible cockpit seating, the arrangement gives the aft end of the yacht a stronger role as a dedicated waterside living area.
Design Unlimited develops a new interior direction
Below deck, the interior was developed with Design Unlimited and introduces a warmer, more layered approach to materials, lighting and surfaces. Large hull windows bring natural light into the accommodation, while owners can select from different colours and textures to personalise the atmosphere.
The accommodation includes two cabins, with a full-beam midships cabin providing a double bed, sofa and generous headroom. A separate head with enclosed shower serves the lower deck, while the central area can be specified either with an integrated galley or additional seating, giving the 440 Open greater flexibility for weekends and longer periods aboard.
