HH46-16 becomes the first yacht in the updated configuration
HH says hull HH46-16 is the first newly updated 46 to launch, with the yacht entering the water in Hong Kong in April 2026. The company reported strong early results and described the launch as the point at which development work from the first HH44 hulls became standardised in the larger platform.
That progression is typical of a new production design, where early owner use exposes opportunities that are difficult to identify from drawings alone. By carrying those lessons into a defined 46-foot specification, HH can refine the platform without abandoning the design philosophy that made the HH44 distinctive.
Two-foot transom extensions become part of the standard package
Owners of existing HH44s were offered the option of adding two-foot transom extensions, and HH has now incorporated the longer stern sections into the HH46 as standard. The change increases the yacht's overall length while also creating more usable space at the water and extending the platform's sailing waterline.
For cruising owners, the practical benefit is broader than appearance. Longer transoms can make boarding tenders, swimming and handling equipment easier, while the additional waterline length can contribute to performance without demanding a completely new hull concept.
High-aspect rudders target improved control
The HH46 also standardises deeper high-aspect-ratio rudders developed from feedback on the earlier boats. Steering control is especially important on a performance catamaran, where daggerboards, light construction and efficient sail plans allow the yacht to operate at higher speeds than many conventional cruising multihulls.
More effective rudders should improve authority when sailing fast, manoeuvring under reduced power and handling the boat in changing conditions. Combined with HH's dual swing helm stations, the update is intended to make the yacht easier to control without sacrificing the direct sailing experience expected by performance-oriented owners.
Electrification remains central to the 46-foot platform
The structural changes sit alongside the HH46's existing technology package, which was conceived around an optional parallel electric-diesel EcoDrive system, solar generation and hydro-regeneration. HH also retains extensive carbon construction, epoxy resins and C-shaped daggerboards to balance stiffness, weight and upwind performance.
The first launch therefore marks more than a minor model-year revision. It formalises the lessons learned from early HH44 operation into a production platform that combines updated sailing hardware with the electrical and domestic systems demanded by owners planning extended, self-sufficient cruising.
