The Squadron 50 is the compact flybridge in the family
Fairline positions the Squadron 50 below the larger 58 and 68, giving buyers access to the same flybridge ownership concept at a more manageable overall size. The upper deck provides additional seating and an elevated helm without requiring a 20-metre hull.
At 15.64 metres overall, the model can still be handled by experienced owner-operators while providing the accommodation and social spaces expected from a premium cruising yacht. This makes it relevant to buyers moving up from enclosed sports cruisers.
Four to seven berths can be accommodated
Fairline publishes berth capacity from four to seven, depending on the selected lower-deck configuration. The saloon and cabins are designed to preserve a sense of space despite the relatively compact hull length, using large windows and open sightlines.
This flexibility allows owners to prioritise either larger private cabins or more sleeping capacity for children and guests. The decision affects how the boat functions on longer trips, especially when several people are living aboard for consecutive nights.
Volvo IPS choices produce 31- or 32-knot estimates
The current engine list includes twin Volvo Penta IPS650 D6-480 units or larger IPS700 D8-550 diesels. Fairline publishes estimated maximum speeds of 31 knots and 32 knots respectively, showing that the higher-power package adds only a modest increase in top speed.
That makes the machinery decision about more than headline performance. Purchase cost, fuel burn, load carrying and preferred cruise speed may matter more to an owner than gaining a single knot at the upper end of the operating envelope.
The model keeps flybridge ownership below 16 metres
The Squadron 50 demonstrates how much functionality builders can now package into yachts around 15 to 16 metres. Owners gain two helm stations, several guest berths and substantial social space without crossing into the larger 20-metre market.
For LYG readers, this size can provide a useful compromise between capability and operating burden. The boat offers much of the lifestyle associated with larger flybridge yachts while keeping marina, maintenance and crewing demands on a smaller scale.
