A new option for Barcelona's in-water visitors

The Cruisers Yachts 38 VTR appears in the official 2026 Barcelona International Boat Show fleet list as a motorboat of approximately 12.8 metres overall. Its planned presence at Port Vell between 14 and 18 October will give European visitors an opportunity to inspect an American luxury dayboat designed around outdoor entertaining and easy access to the water.

The 38 VTR sits below the larger 45 VTR range that Cruisers Yachts has also been developing for the market. It is a separate model with different dimensions and a more compact ownership proposition, not a renamed version of the 45-foot yacht already covered in earlier announcements.

Barcelona's exhibitor inventory records the vessel as being on the water rather than a trailer display. That makes it particularly useful for prospective owners comparing cockpit movement and embarkation, although private demonstrations and sea trials should always be arranged through the exhibitor.

Twin Mercury outboards and a working-sized hull

The manufacturer's published 2026 sales information describes twin Mercury 300hp outboards, providing a combined 600hp in the example advertised. Its headline dimensions are 38 feet in length and approximately 11.1 feet in beam, with an indicated dry weight close to 15,146lb and fuel capacity of roughly 233 US gallons.

The published Barcelona length may include installed equipment or use a different measuring convention, so buyers should clarify the certified overall dimension of the particular boat, including its engines and any platform. Marina fees, berthing rules and transport arrangements often use measurements different from the nominal name of a model.

The choice of outboards can free up more internal cockpit space and support easier access for some maintenance tasks, but it also influences rear clearance, engine protection and the arrangement of the bathing platform. Prospective owners should ask for actual speed and fuel-consumption data measured with a realistic crew and tank load.

A dayboat designed for mixed activities

The 38 VTR is offered as a social cruising platform with flexible cockpit seating and a cabin area intended for occasional breaks away from the sun. The dealer specification lists an enclosed head, making longer days away from a home marina more practical for families and guests.

The emphasis on flexible space is important in the 12-metre market, where some owners want space for swimming and sunbathing on one day and more formal seating or sheltered conversation on another. A yacht designed to perform several roles needs to make those transitions without complicated furniture handling.

For an owner considering coastal passages along Catalonia or the Balearic Islands, questions about weather protection, boarding access, refrigeration and storage may be at least as important as engine power. The strongest comparison will come from walking through the actual exhibit instead of relying solely on the builder's photographs.

What to check before committing to a purchase

New buyers should examine steering response at low speed, the room left around the outboards when raised and the way guests can move from the side deck into the cockpit. Safe access for mooring lines and the ability to use fenders without obstruction become relevant whenever the boat visits a crowded harbour.

The American model's equipment and electrical systems also need to suit the European market, including the applicable certification, shore-power installation and warranty support available locally. A sales listing from another country should not be assumed to represent the exact specification of the Barcelona boat.
