A48 O/B reaches Genoa after its Cannes premiere

Cranchi’s current boat-show schedule lists the A48 O/B among the yachts on display at the Genoa International Boat Show, which runs from 1 to 6 October. The appearance follows the model’s world premiere at Cannes in September, extending the opportunity for owners to see the new open yacht in person rather than relying on launch imagery and specifications alone.

At 14.74 metres overall, the A48 O/B is large enough to offer genuine overnight cruising accommodation while remaining well below the 24-metre threshold. That makes it especially relevant to buyers moving up from day boats who want more shelter, privacy and range without stepping into the operating scale of a larger yacht.

Outboard power changes the character of the platform

The A48 O/B is Cranchi’s outboard interpretation of its open-yacht concept, with the engines freeing internal volume that would otherwise be occupied by an inboard machinery arrangement. Cranchi positions the result as a sportier and more dynamic yacht without sacrificing the usable areas that matter during longer days aboard.

The design retains a substantial T-top and wraparound windscreen, giving the helm and central cockpit more protection while preserving the open-air character. For Mediterranean ownership, that balance can make the yacht more practical across a longer season than a completely exposed walkaround.

Fold-down sides create a broader waterside area

Aft, fold-down bulwarks expand the deck into a broad beach area, with integrated steps intended to make access to the water more natural. The arrangement is increasingly common on premium yachts in this size range because it adds useful width at anchor without permanently increasing the yacht’s marina footprint.

Cranchi also uses the extra beam and open-deck layout to create multiple social zones rather than concentrating activity around a single cockpit. The result is aimed at owners who want the yacht to work equally well for swimming stops, lunches at anchor and short coastal passages.

A separate owner cabin supports longer stays

Below deck, the A48 O/B includes a fully separate owner’s cabin, a notable step up from the more open sleeping arrangements common on smaller performance boats. That privacy makes the model better suited to weekend cruising and gives couples a more yacht-like ownership experience.

Its Genoa appearance therefore matters beyond simple show visibility. It gives buyers a chance to judge whether the A48 O/B’s combination of open-deck living, outboard propulsion and enclosed accommodation provides enough versatility to replace both a large day boat and a conventional compact cruiser.
