Barcolana58 begins in Trieste on 2 October, with ten days of sailing and shoreside events leading to the Autumn Cup on Sunday 11 October. The organiser’s programme includes one-design races, offshore arrivals, larger-yacht competition and public activity around the waterfront.
The programme builds towards 11 October
Barcolana is not a single afternoon race this year. Events begin on 2 October and culminate in the traditional Autumn Cup on 11 October, while training, cultural activity and associated regattas unfold across the ten-day period.
The organiser had already recorded more than 800 registrations when it announced the programme, compared with 1,865 entries in the previous edition. That is a dated interim count, not a prediction or final 2026 fleet total.
Several kinds of sailing
The Este 24 European Championship begins on 7 October, followed by the Solaris Adriatic Cup and Barcolana Maxi on 8 October. Different race formats let spectators observe contrasting designs rather than treating every entrant as a directly comparable yacht.
Sailing yacht owners can also follow feeder events from Ravenna, Croatia and Slovenia. Participation and actual arrival depend on the relevant notice of race, equipment and weather.
A city-wide maritime setting
The organiser’s Be Open programme extends into Trieste’s museums, stages and neighbourhoods, with maritime culture accompanying the racing. Such activity makes the city a destination for accompanying guests who are not competing.
Visitors should not assume a public programme is a yacht-berthing agreement. A private cruising arrival requires a suitable marina reservation and local navigation checks.
How to follow the event
The official Barcolana site provides a day-by-day calendar and race information as the programme develops. The final fleet, results and weather cannot be reported before the October activities take place.
