An alternative to the standard resort suite

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique has added eight private resort residences for short or extended stays. Announced in June 2026, the collection offers one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts intended to combine the privacy of an independent holiday home with the services of the established hotel. Some configurations can accommodate up to eight guests.

The residences are set within the wider resort on the Guanacaste coast, overlooking the Pacific landscape. Each includes generous living areas, furnished balconies, full kitchens and a private plunge pool. That specification changes how a family or small group can organise the day: dining, conversation and quiet time need not always take place in communal resort spaces.

More autonomy without losing service

Guests can arrange a private check-in and use concierge assistance for transfers, activities and dining. The residences also provide access to a rooftop pool and bar reserved for this accommodation offering, according to the operator. This balance of privacy and staff support may suit travellers who want a less formal routine but still appreciate professional help.

A residential-style layout does not remove the need to plan. Guests should establish what cleaning, kitchen support and meal delivery actually include in the quoted rate, particularly during an extended stay. A private plunge pool and full kitchen can be valuable amenities, but they should not be assumed to come with an included private chef.

Wellbeing as part of the experience

The resort offers spa access, fitness facilities and wellness programming, while the residences can be used for private yoga sessions and in-room treatments. Hilton describes optional rituals combining massage, movement and relaxation, with prices specified for some experiences in its announcement. These should be understood as leisure services rather than medical treatments.

Wellness is particularly personal, and a private setting may help visitors choose their own pace without rigid appointments. Still, treatment suitability depends on individual health circumstances and qualified practitioners. Travellers should confirm the current service menu and any advance reservation requirements, especially during high-demand travel periods.

A longer rhythm on the peninsula

The Punta Cacique setting encourages time outdoors, from coastal views to wildlife and excursions within Guanacaste. A private residence may make it easier to alternate those experiences with a full day at home, something many travellers appreciate when visiting with children or several generations of family members.

The June announcement also differentiates bookable residences from homes marketed for sale in the wider development. The accommodation offer is for temporary stays, with final availability, pricing and minimum nights managed through the hotel. Prospective guests should compare the specific residence category rather than assume every one offers identical space or outlook. Family groups may particularly appreciate having space for early-rising children and guests who prefer a quieter afternoon within the same accommodation.
