Jeep has opened UK orders for the new Compass Full-Electric 4xe and a separate plug-in hybrid, offering two ways to reach a coastal retreat without choosing the same drivetrain. The electric 4xe combines all-wheel drive and up to 372 miles of quoted WLTP range with equipment intended for roads that are not always perfectly paved.
The marine-lifestyle connection is the road journey, not any claim that this car is suitable for towing every boat. A buyer should look closely at access roads, luggage requirements and charging provision near the chosen marina.
The electric version's terrain brief
Jeep specifies 210mm of ground clearance, a 480mm wading figure and purpose-designed approach and departure angles for the electric 4xe. Upland and Overland versions have different interior and equipment choices, including mud-and-snow tyres and a rear towing hook.
Wading specifications are not invitations to drive through a flooded slipway or salt water. Owners should follow the vehicle manual and check any approved trailer rating before planning to move a tender.
The plug-in hybrid alternative
The Compass plug-in hybrid offers up to 50 miles of electric driving under WLTP, with a petrol engine for longer journeys. It is sold in Altitude and Summit variants rather than sharing the electric 4xe's exact mechanical package.
Jeep lists UK opening prices of £37,330 for the plug-in hybrid and £45,200 for the full-electric 4xe, subject to current regional terms. A quote for the individual car should reflect options, taxes and any updated offers.
What the marina owner needs to know
Carrying bags and guests, reaching out-of-town berths and using public charging are practical parts of the ownership calculation. A model with two different electrified powertrains gives households a choice without promising identical range in every driving condition.
