A Cape Town power catamaran heads to Fort Lauderdale

HMY Yacht Sales will present hull 010 of the 2026 Two Oceans 555 Power Catamaran at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 28 October to 1 November. The 55-foot South African-built yacht gives North American visitors an opportunity to examine the latest example of a semi-custom cruising platform.

The confirmed display is at Bahia Mar Yachting Center near D Dock and E Dock. Unlike a conceptual launch, hull 010 is identified as a completed vessel available for private inspection and, according to HMY, immediate delivery following the exhibition.

A distinctive twin-hull platform

Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing builds the 555 in Cape Town to designs by Du Toit Yacht Design. The two-hull architecture creates a beam substantially wider than many conventional monohull motor yachts of similar length, allowing more room for living and entertaining.

The yard describes the model as an ocean-going home, with an emphasis on ergonomic movement and comfortable cruising. Seakeeping, fuel use and speed depend on loading and conditions, so broad claims should be checked against relevant sea trials.

Dimensions and construction

HMY lists the exhibited yacht at 55 feet overall with a beam of 25 feet and a draft of three feet six inches. Its construction employs fibreglass composite materials including E-glass laminate, a PVC foam core and a vinylester barrier coat.

The relatively shallow draft may be attractive for cruising destinations with variable water depth, though a captain must still navigate to current charted and observed conditions. The model is not intended as a substitute for careful passage planning.

A four-stateroom arrangement

The main deck connects a spacious saloon with a galley and dining area seating eight. Below, hull 010 includes four staterooms, three with queen-size berths and one arranged with twin berths, providing an adaptable combination for family and guests.

Each stateroom has access to a full bathroom with a shower, according to the broker's specification. These arrangements reflect the displayed yacht; the builder offers customisable interiors on other hulls.

Diesel propulsion and control

The Fort Lauderdale yacht uses two Cummins QSB 6.7 engines rated at 550 horsepower each, paired with KMH52 gearboxes. HMY also lists bow and stern thrusters to assist with low-speed manoeuvring around docks and tight marina spaces.

An owner evaluating the boat should request verified cruising-speed and fuel-consumption data from the dealer. Twin propulsion is useful for control, but training and familiarity remain essential for a yacht with a 25-foot beam.

Fuel, water and onboard power

The published specification includes 750 US gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of fresh water. An Onan 21.5-kilowatt generator, eight 400-watt solar panels and a Victron 3,500-watt inverter support the yacht's domestic electrical systems.

The solar array's nominal 3.2-kilowatt rating is a component specification, not a guarantee of constant generation. Real output is affected by sunlight, shade, battery state and electrical demand.

Outdoor space from bow to flybridge

The Two Oceans 555 has an aft cockpit, foredeck lounge and flybridge with a second helm station, offering several different places for passengers to enjoy the water. The configuration is designed to distribute guests across the yacht without requiring everyone to gather in one saloon.

For long weekends or extended coastal cruising, the different zones can provide flexibility between dining, relaxation and navigation. Exact sun protection and furnishings should be checked aboard the displayed vessel.

Navigation electronics and onboard comfort

HMY lists dual Garmin plotters, radar, autopilot, VHF with AIS and multiple camera systems. Air conditioning serves the accommodation, while the arrangement includes the practical equipment needed for longer stays on board.

Electronics packages and software versions may change, making a detailed handover valuable for a new owner. The listed equipment also requires routine maintenance and appropriate training to be used safely.

Regional representation by HMY

HMY is the exclusive distributor for Two Oceans Power Catamarans across the United States, Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The relationship connects the South African builder with an established network of North American yacht sales professionals.

Buyers should verify individual warranty arrangements, technical support and delivery logistics for their home port. The dealer's role extends beyond exhibiting the yacht, particularly when an owner operates far from the build yard.

Viewing hull 010 at the show

Visitors can arrange a private appointment to board the new 2026 yacht during the five-day Fort Lauderdale event. The boat is due at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, with final access and berth details supplied by HMY.

The manufacturer's own 555 documentation provides additional model background, while the brokerage specification describes this particular hull. Together they give buyers a stronger basis for assessment than a show announcement alone.
