Manufacturing begins at Fort Pierce
The Finnish brand Saxdor Yachts says its first American-built 320 GTO is complete, marking the start of boat production at Malibu Boats Inc.'s Fort Pierce facility in Florida. The company, now part of Malibu Boats, intends to add additional models as the new operation develops.
For buyers in North America, the significance lies in the possibility of shorter supply routes and closer contact with service and production teams. However, the company has not yet given a capacity target or promised that every US-bound Saxdor will be manufactured in Florida.
Existing European manufacturing remains
Fort Pierce complements the company's facilities in Finland and Poland rather than replacing them. Saxdor says the 270 GTO is due to follow the 320 GTO into Florida production, with a gradual expansion to more models.
Customers should verify the actual build origin, serial number and equipment package for their own vessel. Manufacturing locations and model allocations can evolve as a factory expands, and a manufacturer's strategic announcement does not establish a delivery date for individual purchasers.
Dealer and technical support
Saxdor is also expanding its presence through dealerships and service arrangements in Canada, Argentina and the Caribbean. It has agreed with MarineMax to extend dealer coverage via Malibu Boats outlets in areas not already served by its long-standing US network.
The network is central to ownership of sophisticated motorboats. Customers depend on trained engineers, appropriate replacement parts, and clear responsibility when warranty or software issues arise. A dealer's proximity can prove more useful than headline manufacturing news if the yacht needs maintenance during a holiday.
350 GTW joins the boat-show fleet
At the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, running 28 October to 1 November, Saxdor will introduce an updated 350 GTW derived from its 340 GTWA. Its revised wheelhouse allows both sliding doors to retract completely to open up one side of the interior.
Other revisions include an available L-shaped sofa, alternative floor finishes, redesigned helm with integrated air conditioning and improved bow-cabin storage. The company also lists twin 350-horsepower Mercury Verado V10 engines as an option, not as a universal configuration for every yacht.
Six models provide a broad comparison
Saxdor's Florida display will feature the 460 GTC, 350 GTW, 400 GTS, 400 GTC, 320 GTO and 270 GTO at Bahia Mar's FG Dock, slips 23–27. The line-up lets prospective customers move between compact dayboats and more substantial enclosed platforms.
For buyers seeking a 12-to-24-metre luxury yacht, the larger 400 and 460 models provide the most relevant comparison. Questions about weather protection, sleeping accommodation, refuelling and engine accessibility should be addressed in person rather than inferred from a promotional image.
Later projects remain in development
The open 460 GTS has been presented in Europe but is still completing final tests ahead of serial production. Its American introduction is planned for mid-2027; an aft-cabin variant of the 460 GTC is also under development.
Those timeframes are forward-looking. There is no basis to assume that boats displayed at the forthcoming show, boats being tested, and boats under development are equally close to customer delivery. Each requires a separate discussion about availability.
Digital systems and owner responsibility
Saxdor cites collaboration with Navico Group on technical training and the implementation of Simrad AutoCaptain assisted docking. It also promotes Boat IQ, a digital companion integrated into the yacht's multifunction displays.
Such systems may help an owner access information or operate onboard equipment, but they do not relieve a skipper of navigational obligations. Buyers should clarify which features are installed, how updates are handled and whether connectivity or subscriptions are required.
Assessing the business impact
The combined developments suggest a more mature North American presence built around production, distribution and product support. They also carry execution challenges: expanding a factory and providing consistent after-sales service are demanding operational tasks.
Buyers should request written warranty terms, delivery schedules and technical support contacts. Those details will provide stronger evidence of the practical benefits of Saxdor's Florida expansion than a boat-show appearance alone.
