Visitors to the Genoa International Boat Show will be able to test Quick Group's updated gyro stabilisation system at sea, rather than judging it solely from a display stand. The Italian equipment company is putting the Quick Gyro aboard a Nimbus Sport Tender 42 for short sessions during the show, which runs from 1 to 6 October 2026.
A demonstration boat makes the announcement especially relevant to owners considering a stabiliser for an existing yacht. The effect of roll reduction is more meaningful when experienced on the water, although individual results still depend on the boat, conditions and the system selected.
A 15–20-minute trial from Dock E
Quick says the demonstration sessions will last about 15 to 20 minutes and depart from Dock E, berth YE801A. Visitors can book in advance through the manufacturer or enquire at its Genoa exhibition areas, where staff will also explain model selection and installation.
The demonstration platform is a Nimbus Sport Tender 42, a boat large enough to make the subject relevant to the lower end of Luxury Yacht Guide's 12.00–23.99-metre category. It is a show test of the equipment, however, and should not be mistaken for a claim that every ST42 leaves the factory with this installation.
Engineering changes address start-up and power
The latest work has involved the flywheel, electrical components and the algorithms that manage acceleration and torque. Quick says its X13, X16 and X19 models now take more than 30 per cent less time to become operational after starting, a practical change for owners making shorter trips.
The company also reports lower current peaks and a steadier power demand, together with a revised ECO function. Those changes are relevant when a yacht's hotel loads, charging capacity and available machinery space all have to be considered before retrofitting another substantial system.
Air cooling and multiple-unit layouts
Quick uses air cooling rather than a dedicated seawater cooling circuit for this range, removing the requirement for that circuit's associated through-hull connections. That may simplify parts of an installation and subsequent maintenance, but owners still need a qualified survey of the individual boat before selecting equipment.
The range extends from the X2 to X75 and includes different power arrangements, while control updates also support installations with more than one gyro. Quick identifies multihulls and yachts with constrained machinery space as applications where the multi-unit approach can be helpful.
Warranty and show offer have conditions
An eligible system can have its standard two-year warranty extended to a total of four years following online registration. The extension is conditional on scheduled maintenance being completed through authorised service centres or certified technicians, so owners should check the precise terms.
Quick has also announced a dedicated show-related purchase rate, valid for qualifying confirmations through 31 December 2026. The sea trials offer buyers a starting point for an equipment conversation; they do not replace model-specific engineering, a written quotation or a documented performance assessment.
