Oyster Yachts has unveiled the new Oyster 515, replacing and extending the ideas developed in the Oyster 495. The new 50-foot blue-water cruiser combines increased sail area and interior volume with a substantially redesigned aft deck.
Humphreys Yacht Design and Oyster’s in-house Design Studio developed the yacht together. The most visible change is a beach-club-inspired stern arrangement intended to bring owners closer to the water while preserving the offshore-cruising role of the range.
Why this matters in the luxury-yacht market
At this size, Oyster buyers are often looking for a yacht capable of serious ocean passages without the operational overhead of a much larger crewed sailing yacht. The 515 therefore has to balance systems redundancy, storage and passagemaking ergonomics with owner-level finish.
The design also shows how blue-water cruising yachts are adopting features once associated mainly with larger motor yachts, particularly more elaborate access to the sea. The important test is whether these lifestyle features can be integrated without compromising offshore practicality.
What comes next
The Oyster 515 now joins the builder’s current development pipeline and will become an important entry point into its larger-yacht ownership ecosystem. Future sea trials and first-owner experience will show how successfully the new stern concept works offshore.
