A new 50-foot model builds on the Oyster 495

Oyster says the 515 develops ideas proven on the 495 while increasing sail area, usable volume and deck functionality. The new model is intended to preserve the company's long-range cruising philosophy while giving owners a more contemporary platform for extended voyages.

Humphreys Yacht Design worked with Oyster's in-house team on the project, combining familiar bluewater priorities with a more modern deck layout. The result is positioned as an evolution of the range rather than a cosmetic update to an existing yacht.

The aft deck is the biggest visible change

The most significant redesign appears aft, where the 515 gains a beach-club inspired area with aft-facing seating, larger pushpit seats and a deeper connection to the water. A larger fold-down bathing platform expands the usable space when the yacht is stopped.

This arrangement changes how the yacht can be used at anchor because the stern becomes a social destination rather than simply an access point. Swimming, boarding, lounging and waterside dining can all be organised around the same part of the yacht.

More sail area supports the performance brief

Oyster has revised the sail plan and increased sail area while retaining twin rudders and twin helm stations. The aim is to give the yacht stronger performance without compromising the controlled handling expected from an ocean-going cruiser designed for family or shorthanded use.

Long-distance owners will still judge the yacht by far more than sail area alone, including reefing systems, deck hardware, tankage and the ease of managing systems offshore. The 515 has therefore been developed around the complete cruising experience rather than a single performance number.

The model strengthens Oyster's current range

The 515 adds a fresh entry point for buyers who want a substantial Oyster without moving immediately into the larger 565 and 595. Its 2026 unveiling also gives the builder a new model around one of the most competitive sizes in premium bluewater sailing.
