The new model extends Nimbus's weekender idea
Nimbus introduced the Sport Weekender 42 in September under the line 'All you love, Only More,' signalling an expansion of the same ownership philosophy used on smaller models. The company is targeting buyers who want more space without losing straightforward owner operation.
The 12.4-metre size keeps the yacht manageable while allowing additional social and overnight capability. It is large enough to support extended weekends but remains far below the scale where a permanent professional crew becomes the default expectation.
Scandinavian practicality remains central
Nimbus has built its modern reputation around boats that combine clean design with deliberately practical movement, weather protection and storage. The new 42 continues that approach rather than using size alone as the main selling point.
For owners, this can matter more than an extra decorative feature. Wide circulation, sensible helm ergonomics and adaptable seating directly influence how often a boat is used and how easy it feels when only a couple or small family is aboard.
The 42 broadens the current premium day-and-weekend sector
Large weekender boats now compete with open yachts, walkarounds and compact cruisers for the same owners. Nimbus is responding by giving buyers a larger platform that can remain social and open while still providing the domestic systems needed for nights aboard.
This keeps the model relevant to Mediterranean use as well as northern European boating, where weather protection and enclosed comfort often carry more weight. The same platform can therefore appeal to several very different regional markets.
A September launch places the model into the new-show season
The timing gives Nimbus a fresh product as autumn boat shows and dealer events continue across Europe and other markets. A new 42 also gives the company a strong reference point for customers moving up from smaller Weekender and Tender products.
For LYG, the launch is significant because it lands directly inside the 12-to-24-metre sector the site covers. It is a current new-model story with enough scale, equipment and overnight capability to sit clearly above ordinary leisure-boat territory.
