The aft deck and deck-saloon changes are useful precisely because they serve different modes of use. Breakfast in harbour, a wet coastal transit and a late arrival all ask more of the same space than a conventional fair-weather cockpit.
The builder's current model page lists 12.40 metres whereas its wider updated 42 Series overview lists 12.70 metres. Both figures remain inside LYG's coverage, but a buyer should ask the yard which specification applies to the exact model year and hull.
Controls and propulsion choices
Nimbus lists Mercury twin-outboard and Volvo Penta inboard alternatives, with the exact installation governing performance and range. Its published data includes an 850-litre fuel capacity and 45-plus-knot performance with suitable engine specification.
The 42 Series also receives improved helm ergonomics, revised lighting and provisions for joystick-assisted manoeuvring depending on engine package. Buyers should distinguish standard equipment from options and obtain a hull-specific fuel and speed assessment.
What to check before ordering
The attraction of a fast enclosed cruiser is the ability to use more weekends rather than wait for perfect weather. Owners should inspect visibility from the seats, movement between saloon and aft deck, ventilation and the practicality of the second cabin for their intended guests.
