Six days of high-performance sailing
The Musto iQFOiL World Championship concluded at Weymouth and Portland after six days of racing. RYA reports 186 athletes representing 41 nations at the event.
The scale of the fleet illustrates the reach of specialist sailing competition beyond the conventional yacht market. Owners with an interest in performance sailing can follow the sport independently of their own vessel choice.
Conditions across the championship
Competitors faced variable winds, stronger westerly weather and challenging water. The programme included several racing formats, requiring sailors to adapt to changes over the week.

The titles confirmed
Tamar Steinberg of Israel secured the women’s world title, and Luuc van Opzeeland of the Netherlands won the men’s title. Both completed European and world championship doubles during 2026, according to the organiser.
Islay Watson was ninth overall for Britain after entering the women’s Medal Series. The results reflect this event rather than an appraisal of participants outside the competition.
A destination for a sailing audience
Weymouth and Portland have a long connection with organised sailing and training. A championship visit offers a different perspective on the same water used by cruisers and local clubs.
