The LY680 extends the original Lexus yacht concept
The LY680 evolves the earlier LY650 with a flybridge that is approximately 1.4 metres longer and a swimming platform extended by 700 millimetres. Those changes bring overall length to 20.63 metres while creating more usable exterior space for guests.
For owners, the extensions matter more than the model-number change suggests. A larger flybridge gives the upper deck more value as a social area, while the longer swim platform improves access to the water, tenders and watersports during normal Mediterranean or Florida-style cruising.
Three cabins accommodate up to six guests
Lexus lists three guest cabins with accommodation for up to six people, supported by a 5.76-metre beam. Passenger capacity is quoted at 15, allowing the yacht to host a larger group during day use without turning the interior into an overly dense overnight layout.
That balance is well suited to the LYG market, where many owners want generous daytime entertaining but typically cruise overnight with family or a small group of friends. Limiting the cabin count can preserve space and privacy instead of chasing maximum berth numbers.
Twin Volvo Penta IPS units provide the propulsion package
The LY680 is offered with twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350 or IPS 1050 units, paired with a 4,012-litre fuel capacity and 852 litres of fresh water. Lexus emphasises quietness, stable handling and ride comfort rather than positioning the yacht around a headline maximum-speed figure.
IPS propulsion also supports the kind of close-quarters manoeuvring expected by private owners in this size range. Joystick-style control and efficient packaging can make a 20-metre yacht feel less intimidating in marinas while freeing interior volume compared with some conventional shaft arrangements.
Horizon Group builds the yacht for Lexus
Production is handled by Horizon Group in Taiwan, with Lexus responsible for design and the wider onboard experience. The collaboration combines Horizon's yacht-building capability with production methods influenced by Toyota's manufacturing philosophy and Lexus's luxury-brand positioning.
The Fort Lauderdale appearance is therefore an important step in taking the project beyond its domestic Japanese market. At 20.63 metres, the LY680 sits directly inside Luxury Yacht Guide's 12.00-to-23.99-metre remit and gives buyers another established-brand alternative in the premium flybridge sector.
