Annapolis puts the GB54 in front of active cruising owners

Grand Banks will display the GB54 at Annapolis City Dock from 8 to 11 October, placing the yacht in one of the United States' most established boating markets. The show draws owners who use the Chesapeake and East Coast cruising grounds, where range, easy handling and practical deck access matter as much as headline performance.

The 54 sits at 17.68 metres overall, comfortably inside the Luxury Yacht Guide sector. Its size gives owners genuine multi-day cruising capability without automatically moving into the operational complexity associated with much larger yachts, making it relevant to couples and families who want to remain closely involved in running the boat.

Twenty-nine knots does not come at the expense of range

Grand Banks quotes a top speed of 29 knots for the GB54 and says the yacht can deliver nearly 500 nautical miles of range while maintaining 21 knots. That combination reflects the builder's focus on reducing resistance and maintaining efficiency at speeds well above traditional displacement cruising.

For owners, the useful point is flexibility. A yacht that can cover ground quickly when weather or schedules demand it, yet still operate efficiently over longer passages, can support a much broader cruising programme than a boat optimised around only one speed regime.

The layout is designed around owner operation

Grand Banks emphasises that the GB54 can be handled by a couple and, in suitable circumstances, even by a single operator. Strong visibility from the helm, a starboard-side helm door and direct access between helm positions and the side deck are intended to make docking, mooring and anchoring more manageable.

Those details are especially important in this size band because many buyers want the volume and capability of a substantial motor yacht without carrying full-time professional crew. Good sightlines and efficient movement between controls and deck hardware can reduce workload and make spontaneous use more realistic.

The show offers a direct test of the long-range proposition

Grand Banks is using Annapolis to present the 54 as part of its wider long-range cruising philosophy, which blends traditional passagemaking priorities with modern composite construction and higher cruising speeds. Visitors will be able to inspect the yacht at Dock F2 during the four-day event.

A boat-show inspection cannot replace a sea trial, but it gives prospective owners the chance to judge circulation, helm ergonomics, accommodation and machinery access in person. Those practical details ultimately determine whether the GB54's combination of speed and efficiency translates into an easier yacht to own and use.
