Garcia has detailed an evolution of its aluminium Explocat 52 expedition catamaran, referred to as Explocat 52², with revised living spaces and two steering-position versions. The new configuration refines the established 52-foot design rather than introducing a boat outside LYG's length sector.
The company has shown initial design renderings and described owner choices around cockpit layout and helm protection. These are published design proposals, not claims about a sea-trial result aboard a completed revised hull.
A more usable interior and cockpit
Garcia describes a redesigned aft cockpit, improved access to fenders and more natural light in the aft cabins. The interior changes are intended to improve space, movement and daily life on extended voyages.
The concepts were developed with Darnet Design and Pierre Delion, according to the yard. Buyers should examine the final plan and actual production configuration before assuming every depicted refinement will appear on a particular yacht.
Two steering arrangements
The Haven-Deck version places its upper sail-handling station lower for additional shelter during manoeuvres, including short-handed operation. The Sky-Deck alternative puts the handling station higher and provides a broader helm bench with more elevated views.
Both retain the pivoting steering-column principle described for the Explocat design. The two options reflect differing preferences for protection and connection to the deck, rather than a verified performance ranking.
Built around long-range use
The yard continues to position the model around aluminium construction and autonomous bluewater passages. The practical distinction is how its crew will move between helming, sail handling and interior spaces in poor weather.
