Two different ECLIPSE 505 Shadows at FLIBS
HMY Yacht Sales plans to display two ECLIPSE 505 Shadow express cruisers at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, giving visitors a chance to compare changes between successive hulls. The models will be shown from 28 October to 1 November at Bahia Mar's D Dock.
Hull 003 is finished in Flag Blue, while hull 005 uses a Stingray Gray exterior. Although both are based on the same 50-foot platform, the newer boat includes a series of refinements influenced by owner experience.
A South African-built performance cruiser
ECLIPSE Yachts is associated with Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing in Cape Town, a builder of custom and semi-custom craft. The 505 Shadow combines an express-cruiser profile with outboard power and overnight accommodation.
Its intended usage stretches from day trips to extended weekends and coastal passages. The model's design is different from a pure centre-console fishing boat, with greater emphasis on interior living and shelter.
The significance of hull 005
The Stingray Gray hull is presented as an evolutionary update rather than an entirely redesigned yacht. HMY identifies improvements to the helm, galley, storage and guest cabin that are intended to make everyday life aboard more practical.
These changes are particularly useful for prospective customers who have already examined an earlier 505 Shadow. Comparing the two boats side by side gives an opportunity to judge the effects of those decisions in person.
Clearer views from the helm
Hull 005 features a two-piece windshield and a lowered dashboard to improve forward visibility. Controls for the sunroof and running lights have been repositioned closer to the helm, while an updated seat incorporates a shock-absorbing base and folding elements.
The manufacturer has also added a dedicated 16,000-BTU air-conditioning unit with directional vents around the front seating and windscreen. The intention is to provide comfort for the helmsman during longer journeys.
An improved galley
The revised galley provides more counter space and useful storage within the available footprint. HMY notes an integrated waste bin and an enclosed storage area beneath the galley floor as examples of the detailed work.
Small changes of this kind can become significant during a weekend cruise, when every storage space has a practical role. Buyers should inspect the equipment on both exhibited hulls rather than assume their arrangements are identical.
The aft guest cabin is reconfigured
One of the most significant changes to hull 005 concerns the aft guest cabin. Instead of running athwartships, the sleeping berths are now arranged fore and aft, creating a pair of larger single berths with additional storage.
Separate lockers, drawers, USB charging points and improved handrails add functionality to the accommodation. Guests can assess whether this layout better suits their usual party than the arrangement on earlier hulls.
Power from Mercury V12 outboards
The 505 Shadow uses triple Mercury V12 Verado outboards, providing a propulsion arrangement consistent with its performance-focused character. HMY identifies the later generation of the 600-horsepower engines on the latest hull.
Actual speed and economy depend on weight, engine configuration and conditions, so prospective owners should request sea-trial data for the individual vessel. Routine access to engine service and suitable fuel facilities should also enter the ownership calculation.
Flexible saloon and cockpit spaces
Hull 005 has a lowering cockpit table that converts the seating arrangement into a sunpad. A height-adjustable saloon table can likewise alter the interior between social seating and additional sleeping space.
These features make the yacht more adaptable for a group whose plans may change between a daytime outing and an overnight stay. Owners should examine how easily each conversion can be made with the crew they normally carry.
The Flag Blue alternative
Hull 003 retains the deep blue finish associated with earlier examples and offers two staterooms, two bathrooms and flexible interior and exterior living areas. It provides a comparison point for visitors interested in how the original design was received by customers.
HMY lists both yachts among its Fort Lauderdale display inventory, but the price and availability of an exhibited vessel can change. Confirmed sales details should come directly from the broker before arranging delivery.
Viewing and delivery
The two ECLIPSE 505 Shadows are due at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 28 October through 1 November. HMY can arrange appointments for prospective customers wishing to tour the Flag Blue and Stingray Gray boats.
The confirmed news is the simultaneous display of two distinct hulls and the practical updates on the newer example. The official manufacturer image accompanying this article illustrates the ECLIPSE 505 model and is not presented as a photograph of either specific show hull.
