Boat Days expands from the land into the marina
Boat Days will return to the port city of Civitavecchia in April 2027 with a new in-water exhibition area for yachts and larger rigid-inflatable boats. Organiser Consorzio Mare Lazio is extending the sixth edition beyond the land-based displays that have defined the event's previous format.
The show will take place over two consecutive weekends, April 2–4 and April 9–11, 2027. The extension is intended to create more space for builders and dealers to present larger vessels directly in the water, although the complete list of confirmed exhibits has yet to be announced.
Marina Yachting becomes the new large-boat zone
The new Yacht & Maxi RIB area will use Marina Yachting in the port of Civitavecchia, with the port authority making water space available for exhibitors. The announcement sets an admission threshold of more than 30 feet for boats displayed in the marina, allowing a broader mix than the predominantly small craft seen on land.
Luxury Yacht Guide focuses on boats measuring from twelve metres to just under twenty-four metres, and the proposed water area could accommodate members of that market. However, a display area accepting boats above thirty feet does not guarantee that any particular twelve-to-twenty-four-metre model has already registered.
Traditional displays remain at Piazza della Vita
Boat Days will retain a separate land exhibition at Piazza della Vita near Forte Michelangelo. Organisers expect boats and inflatable craft up to ten metres to be joined by outboard engines, accessories and marine services, preserving an entry point for smaller-boat visitors.
Dealers, brokers and charter operators are also expected to participate, allowing prospective owners to discuss practical services alongside hardware. The two areas are distinct but connected, so visitors may be able to compare smaller dayboats with larger yachts during the same trip.
A two-weekend format creates additional opportunities
Staging the exhibition on two successive weekends may give residents and visiting buyers more freedom to choose when to attend. It also creates opportunities for builders to meet different customers rather than relying on one continuous short show window.
Organisers have not announced individual boat-test schedules, opening hours for every area or a final programme of presentations. Buyers intending to travel specifically to inspect a particular vessel should confirm that boat's presence and access arrangements with its exhibitor in advance.
Local and international builders are the target
The organisers intend to invite businesses from Lazio first before expanding participation to major Italian boatbuilders and international brands represented in the domestic market. This approach makes the new space an opportunity for smaller regional marine companies as well as established yacht manufacturers.
The presence of international names remains an ambition at this stage, not a confirmed roll call. A show can offer commercial value without a large number of premieres if visitors can inspect boats and discuss service or berthing options with the people responsible.
Port institutions support the expansion
The Port System Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea is involved in the new in-water area, alongside the municipality of Civitavecchia and Consorzio Mare Lazio. The organiser is also working with the Coast Guard and other marine bodies to incorporate safety education into the event.
Port authority president Raffaele Latrofa has described the initiative as a way to recognise Civitavecchia's importance to high-end leisure boating as well as cruise shipping. That policy ambition is separate from the number of new marina berths, which has not been quantified in the Boat Days announcement.
Safety and seamanship form part of the visitor programme
Boat Days is planning space for maritime authorities and organisations to discuss safe boating practices with the public ahead of the summer season. Such information can be useful for new owners considering coastal cruising and for experienced skippers reviewing local rules.
A consumer boat show is not a substitute for formal training or navigation planning. Visitors who intend to purchase a boat need to review licensing, safety equipment, maintenance, insurance and suitable berth arrangements appropriate to its size and operating area.
Where visitors can find confirmed details
The October 20 event announcement supplies the two sets of dates and explains the new division of space, while the official Boat Days site is the appropriate place to look for later exhibitor and ticket information. The organiser will need to confirm the final selection of yachts before prospective buyers can plan particular viewings.
The accompanying event picture comes from the original Boat Days announcement distributed through PressMare, illustrating the planned show rather than claiming that the 2027 exhibition has already taken place. Visitors should verify the final site map, opening times and exhibitor list closer to the event.
