The first Bering BC60 has completed its sea-trial programme and a substantial Mediterranean passage between Bering's Antalya base and Cannes. The 18.9-metre aluminium power catamaran reached the Cannes Yachting Festival under its own power, giving the builder a longer real-world test than a conventional local trial programme.
The passage included extended offshore running and a transit through the Corinth Canal. Bering says the yacht has now completed all sea trials, turning the BC60 from a newly launched prototype into a model with meaningful cruising miles behind it.
Real cruising adds to the launch story
Luxury Yacht Guide covered the first BC60 when it launched earlier in 2026, at which point sea trials were still ahead. The new development is the completion of those trials and the yacht's self-powered passage across the Mediterranean, which provides a different level of validation for an expedition-oriented design.
Long-distance operation can reveal noise, vibration, machinery access and fuel-management issues that are difficult to assess during short factory trials. For an explorer catamaran marketed around autonomy and self-sufficiency, that extended use is especially relevant.
18.9 metres with expedition priorities
The BC60 measures 18.9 metres overall and is built in aluminium, with a beam of 8.6 metres and a shallow draft of about 1.4 metres. The layout can be configured with four, five or six cabins, giving owners flexibility between private accommodation and additional guest capacity.
Bering positions the model as a long-range power catamaran rather than a high-speed day boat. Large fuel capacity, storage and a protected cruising layout are intended to support longer periods away from marina infrastructure.
Range remains central to the concept
The builder has promoted a range of around 3,000 nautical miles at economical speed, depending on loading and operating conditions. That figure places the BC60 in a relatively unusual part of the sub-24-metre market, where many power catamarans prioritise living space over expedition range.
The Antalya–Cannes passage does not by itself verify every published range figure, but it does demonstrate sustained use beyond local coastal testing. It also gives the yard operating data that can feed back into future hulls.
First hull now becomes a reference point
As the first catamaran in Bering's range, the BC60 has a larger role than a routine model extension. Its trials and passage provide a reference for the larger BC70 and BC80 concept as the builder develops its multihull programme.
For buyers considering an explorer below 24 metres, the important change is that the BC60 is no longer only a specification and launch story. It has now completed a meaningful operational programme in the same Mediterranean waters where many prospective owners are likely to use the yacht.
