Oceanis 47 targets mainstream family cruising
The Oceanis 47 measures 14.6 metres overall and sits in the centre of BENETEAU’s current cruising range. Its design prioritises comfortable passage-making, straightforward handling and flexible accommodation for owners who want a yacht capable of both short coastal trips and longer cruising seasons.
At Annapolis, the 47 gives prospective buyers a direct reference point for comparing cabin layouts, cockpit space and sail-handling arrangements against the larger Oceanis 52. That side-by-side access can make the practical differences between the two models much easier to judge than specifications alone.
Oceanis 52 adds more volume without leaving the LYG sector
At 16.28 metres overall, the Oceanis 52 provides a clear step up in living space while remaining well below the 24-metre threshold. The larger hull allows more generous accommodation, deck space and storage for owners planning longer periods aboard.
For buyers moving up from a mid-40-foot cruiser, the 52 is particularly relevant because it offers additional comfort without immediately introducing the operational demands associated with much larger yachts. It remains a production sailing yacht designed around private ownership rather than professional crew.
First 44 brings a more performance-led alternative
The First 44 offers a different proposition from the Oceanis models. At 14.65 metres overall, it combines cruising accommodation with a more performance-oriented hull, sail plan and deck layout aimed at owners who want stronger sailing performance without giving up interior comfort.
That makes the First 44 useful as a direct comparison for buyers who are undecided between a pure cruiser and a faster cruiser-racer. Annapolis gives them the chance to assess whether the more dynamic sailing focus is worth the trade-offs in layout or ease of use for their own cruising plans.
Annapolis gives US buyers a concentrated comparison opportunity
The Annapolis Sailboat Show runs from October 15 to 18 at City Dock and remains one of the principal sail-only events in North America. BENETEAU will also display smaller models, but LYG coverage is limited to the three yachts above 12 metres.
For buyers in the LYG sector, the value of the display is the ability to move between three different interpretations of modern production-yacht ownership in one visit. The Oceanis 47, Oceanis 52 and First 44 span family cruising, larger-volume cruising and performance-oriented sailing without leaving the owner-operated size range.
