The Hut at Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight has joined MDL Marinas' Otium Rewards programme, creating a new way for eligible members to use points on waterside dining. Announced in August, the partnership connects a well-known restaurant with cruising activity around the Solent.
It is a practical option for an owner planning a 12–23.99-metre yacht day trip, subject to the restaurant's booking and arrival arrangements. A rewards membership does not itself secure a landing space or remove normal passage planning.
A meal at the end of a short passage
The Hut is accessible by water and is within reach of MDL facilities including Hamble Point, Ocean Village, Mercury and Port Hamble. The journey makes lunch part of the itinerary rather than simply a stop after driving to a restaurant.
Menus include seafood, lobster and other shared dishes, with the terrace and views over Colwell Bay central to its appeal. Weather, tides and local traffic should still inform when a skipper plans to arrive.
How Otium fits the visit
MDL says eligible Otium members can exchange rewards points for partner experiences and use them at The Hut under the programme's current arrangements. Annual berth holders have enhanced earning opportunities, but redemption terms and participating offers require confirmation.
Owners should check their balance and the restaurant's booking policy before setting off. Spending points at a participating venue is separate from any berthing fees or service charges incurred during a cruise.
The Solent beyond the restaurant
The Isle of Wight provides alternative beaches, sheltered stops and longer passages for those extending the day. A skipper can turn a lunch reservation into a broader coastal trip without assuming that every bay will suit the yacht's draft.
