Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra has opened on Mallorca’s southwest coastline in Calvià, placing a new luxury resort close to Puerto Portals and one of the island’s busiest yachting areas. The property occupies the site of the former Hotel Punta Negra and combines a long-established coastal location with a complete redevelopment.
The resort is Mandarin Oriental’s third property in Spain and its first resort in the Balearic Islands. For yacht owners cruising Mallorca, the location is particularly relevant because the hotel is designed to work with the coastline rather than functioning only as an inland retreat reached by road.

Accommodation is spread across five buildings influenced by the island’s history, pine landscape and Mediterranean setting. The resort specifically offers a private yacht transfer service for guests, giving the hotel a direct link with marine arrivals. That is a useful feature in a region where many visitors already move between ports, beach clubs and coastal hotels by boat.
