The hotel fan becomes a scent
For the 12.00–23.99-metre luxury-yacht market, this development has a specific place in the wider marine and travel picture. Mandarin Oriental has worked with Omani perfume house Amouage to develop Whispers of the Fan, a bespoke collection of guest amenities. Announced in May 2026, the scent is organised around eleven notes, a reference to the eleven blades of the hotel's emblem, bringing a visual symbol into the daily experience of a guest room.
Amouage creative chief Renaud Salmon and perfumer Suzy Le Helley drew inspiration from visits to the group's founding cities, Hong Kong and Bangkok. The result is a hotel-exclusive collaboration rather than the launch of a general retail perfume range.
Eleven notes across three stages
Lemongrass, mandarin, coconut and ginger form the opening; lotus, jasmine, rice and tea create the heart; and bamboo, incense and silk make up the base. Together they link familiar Asian sensory references with the perfume house's roots in Oman.
The precise balance is a creative composition and cannot be judged from a written list alone. Visitors will experience it through the amenities provided by a participating property, with the phased rollout determining where it is available.
More than a bottle beside the sink
The collection covers shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, hand-and-body lotion and a solid soap shaped with Amouage's royal emblem. The partners describe vegan, cruelty-free formulations and report 97% natural and organic ingredients, while ADA Cosmetics handles production and supply.
Refillable liquid bottles use a rigid, ceramic-feel outer shell and a hygienic pump system, according to the announcement. Those are the partners' product specifications; independent comparisons of total lifecycle impact are not supplied.
Where the rollout begins
The programme began at Mandarin Oriental hotels in Barcelona, Mallorca and Hong Kong from June 2026, with further properties planned during the rest of the year. A guest should verify whether their chosen hotel has completed the change rather than assume every property supplies the line today.
The official artwork depicts the actual collaboration and product identity. It gives a specific example of fragrance becoming part of hospitality design without attributing the amenities to an unrelated perfume launch. A stay or purchase can accompany a coastal cruise without becoming a marine service in its own right. Guests should confirm availability, travel arrangements and the stated specifications with the original provider before building an itinerary around it.
