For travellers who divide time among work, coastal homes and yacht holidays, a light business jet is one way to connect the places that matter. Textron Aviation announced the 500th delivery of a Citation CJ4 in August 2026, with the milestone Gen2 aircraft going to a customer based in the Philippines.

A milestone for an established design

The CJ4 has been in service for more than a decade and is positioned as the largest aircraft in the Citation light-jet family. The 500-delivery figure refers to the overall programme, not 500 deliveries of the forthcoming Gen3 variant.

The company describes the aircraft as suitable for owner-operators, corporate flights and specialist missions. Its specific suitability depends on route, payload, weather, operational approvals and individual aircraft configuration.

What the Gen3 development adds

Textron's August report says the CJ4 Gen3 programme has passed more than 880 flight-test hours across two test aircraft. It is progressing towards certification, with Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics and planned Emergency Autoland among the prominent features.

A certification forecast is not a completed approval, and the current milestone aircraft is a Gen2. Buyers should distinguish the equipment available now from that proposed for the next production version.

A connection between airport and marina

A light jet may reduce travel time to an airport serving a coastal cruising region, but it does not remove the final transfer to the actual marina. A yacht owner planning several destinations should consider airport opening hours, ground handling and crew schedules alongside flight performance.

Published aircraft range and passenger figures require evaluation against payload, reserves and weather. A brochure's maximum values are not a promise for every departure.

The published milestone

The manufacturer identifies the August 17 delivery and the Philippines-based recipient as part of the programme's international reach. The accompanying photograph is Textron Aviation's official image of that milestone rather than a generic jet picture.
