Canopy Deer Valley has opened near the expanding East Village of Utah's Deer Valley Resort, becoming the brand's first hotel in the state. The 180-room property gives mountain travellers immediate access to the Jordanelle Express Gondola and a base for summer as well as winter excursions.
The September opening adds a new hospitality address to a developing resort village rather than announcing a future scheme without guests. Its interior scheme references the area's mining history and surrounding mountains.
Close to the slopes
The hotel is situated near Deer Valley East Village and approximately 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport by road, according to Hilton. Gondola access is one of its principal selling points for guests who intend to spend time on the mountain.
As the East Village develops, its restaurants and other facilities will also change. Visitors should distinguish services already open from amenities planned for the broader resort expansion.
Four places to eat and gather
Canopy has introduced Tavolona, an Italian restaurant, Fornetto lounge, Mountain Provisions café and rooftop Alpine Attic. Together they are designed to serve the surrounding community as well as guests staying in the hotel.
DLR Group and BraytonHughes led interiors drawing on local materials and views of the mountains and Jordanelle Reservoir. The aesthetic is a contemporary mountain hotel, not an attempt to reproduce a historic mining property.
A year-round destination
Hilton describes the hotel as a base for skiing, outdoor recreation, shopping and Park City's cultural activities. Its September launch leaves time for the property to establish operations before the main winter visitor season.
The press announcement gave room rates starting around US$200 at launch, subject to availability and season. Actual winter pricing, parking and ski arrangements should be checked for each intended stay.
