The academy moves from plan to launch

British Marine formally launched its digital Training Academy on 22 September at the Southampton International Boat Show. The launch took place at a dedicated training stand alongside course and founding partners.

The initiative had been previewed before the show, but the latest announcement confirms its operational debut. The first course is titled Introduction to the Marine World.

An online route into the sector

The platform brings industry-led learning into a flexible online format for entrants and established staff. British Marine intends to expand its course offering over time in response to practical training needs.

That structure can be relevant to people entering yacht service businesses, marina operations or boatbuilding. A course enrolment should still be judged against the requirements of a particular role.

Partners at the launch

Clegg Gifford is named as the first official course partner, with founding support from marine insurance, survey, marina and legal organisations. Representatives joined British Marine at the boat-show presentation.

The range of participating businesses reflects the variety of jobs around luxury-yacht ownership. It does not make a single introductory course equivalent to specialist professional qualifications.

Skills around the 12–24-metre fleet

Smaller luxury yachts rely on technicians, suppliers and marina personnel as well as captains and crew. A broader training pathway can therefore matter throughout the service network.

The release documents the academy’s formal launch and supplies its official photograph. Prospective learners should confirm current modules, price and recognition directly with British Marine.
