An Italian tri-deck yacht with updated systems
Burgess has brought BUNKER, a 39.6-metre CRN Ancona motor yacht, to market with an asking price of €5.79 million. Delivered in 2005 with design by Zuccon International, she is presented following a complete paint programme in 2024 and an extensive refit in 2025. The broker relates the latter work to the yacht’s twenty-year special survey, which gives a clear technical milestone for a buyer to investigate.
The vessel is described as having approximately 328 gross tons of enclosed volume. Gross tonnage is associated with internal capacity, not vessel mass, and its relevance lies in how well the accommodation and services are arranged. A buyer should compare the ease of movement between decks, privacy and stores with other yachts of similar length rather than rely on a number alone.
The October announcement called attention to her refreshed appearance, but major refurbishment claims demand documentation. A yacht can look excellent after exterior painting while still requiring machinery, pipework or electronics maintenance. Ask for the survey results, refit invoices and a complete inventory of systems that were serviced or replaced.
Five cabins and social spaces across three decks
BUNKER accommodates up to twelve guests in five cabins according to Burgess. The main-deck owner’s suite is complemented by two VIP cabins and two twins, with additional Pullman berths forming part of the maximum. The configuration could appeal to a large family, although a full complement will place additional demands on crew, storage and shared facilities.
Inside, the company highlights cherry wood, light finishes and contemporary furnishings. Interior style is a matter of preference, but daylight, ventilation and sound separation affect comfort for all guests. An inspection should therefore look beyond the materials and test whether lounges, cabins and dining areas function smoothly at the same time.
The main deck has outside lounge and dining space, while the upper deck adds seating and another dining area. A Jacuzzi, shade awnings and sunpads appear on the sun deck, with a broad swim platform giving access to the water. Each feature can enrich the yachting experience, provided its servicing and safety arrangements are appropriate for the intended use.
A faster operational profile
Burgess quotes a cruising speed of fifteen knots and a top speed of twenty-two knots. The distinction matters because range and fuel consumption can change sharply as a motor yacht increases speed. A serious buyer needs engine and generator records, along with a trial at the speeds most likely to be used during normal ownership.
Zero-speed stabilisers are also listed and may help control roll at anchor. Their real-world effectiveness depends on service condition, sea state and operating procedure. They should be examined by a qualified engineer as part of a broader check of electrical distribution and machinery reliability.
The broker presented BUNKER as a possible charter-oriented purchase, but any commercial operation would require separate checks of flag, safety certification, crew qualifications and destination rules. A five-cabin plan and entertaining decks cannot by themselves prove that a profitable charter business will result. Operating expenses and seasonal demand need their own evidence.
Interpreting the asking price after a refit
The €5.79 million asking price is significant in the market for yachts around forty metres, but it is not a valuation independent of the seller. Differences in paint condition, machinery, class requirements and interior renewal can explain large gaps between superficially similar listings. Purchasers should compare the expected total cost of acquisition and near-term work, not merely the headline offer.
A two-decade-old yacht requires a careful assessment of ongoing support for original systems. The recent special survey may have resolved important items, yet it does not eliminate every aging component or guarantee future reliability. It should provide documentary questions for the buyer’s team rather than a reason to dispense with scrutiny.
BUNKER’s combination of Italian styling, varied outdoor areas and recent refit investment makes the October listing notable. The important next step for an interested buyer is to establish exactly what was completed and how the yacht performs under way and at anchor. That technical understanding will determine whether the revised condition and advertised price represent a suitable purchase.
