Grand Banks introduced its GB65 Skylounge and Flybridge in September, adding a 21.9-metre yacht to its contemporary cruising collection. The announcement focuses on adaptable interiors and long-range efficiency, not merely a change of exterior styling.
A substantial but sub-24m design
The maker lists a 21.9m overall length, 5.84m beam and 19.8m length on deck. Its V-WARP build integrates hull structure, bulkheads, deck and lightweight composite materials to manage resistance and structural weight.
That approach does not remove the need for actual vessel data when considering a berth or a sea passage. Buyers should ask which engine installation and hull configuration underpin each performance claim.
A different use of the upper deck
The Skylounge places the helm and an additional seating area upstairs, opening the lower saloon for guests. The Flybridge is the alternative for owners who prefer a more open air connection with the water.
The aft galley serves the cockpit, while optional cabin arrangements can turn a guest room into an office or utility space. A buyer should look at the exact build plan rather than assume all 65s have identical accommodation.
Manufacturer's test numbers
Grand Banks reports a 2,344-nautical-mile range at ten knots and consumption of 37 US gallons per hour at 20 knots at 50-percent load in its introduction. Its standard shaft-drive and first Skylounge's IPS installation are distinct propulsion configurations.
Range changes with load, reserve policy and operating conditions. The figures are attributed builder results, not promises for a different completed yacht.
A September model announcement
The new yacht joins the GB54 and GB60, extending the same cruising philosophy while offering greater interior room. The accompanying image is the manufacturer's GB65 rather than a generic Grand Banks model.
