Fairline is using the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026 to launch the Targa 58 GTO, a new model that the British builder describes as a fresh vision for its long-running Targa family. The yacht arrives at Vieux Port during the festival from 8–13 September before Fairline takes the model to the Southampton Boat Show later in the month.
The launch is significant within Fairline's own history because the company specifically identifies 2026 with the arrival of the Targa 58 GTO at the two September shows. It also adds another chapter to a Targa name that has been part of the builder's range for more than four decades.
Cannes opens a new Targa chapter
Fairline describes Cannes as an opportunity for visitors to step aboard the latest additions to its family and experience the company's British craftsmanship at the water. For the Targa 58 GTO, that makes the French Riviera event the first major public stage in a launch programme that will continue in the United Kingdom at Southampton.
The builder has not yet published a complete principal-dimensions and performance table on the current Targa 58 GTO product page, where detailed specifications are still listed as forthcoming. Luxury Yacht Guide is therefore not filling those gaps with third-party figures, and the model will be followed as Fairline releases its definitive technical data.
Open-air living remains central to Targa
Fairline positions the Targa family around open-air freedom and layouts that can adapt to different styles of use on the water. Its current description emphasises social areas that work for entertaining, deck spaces suited to swimming and cabins intended to make longer weekends aboard a natural extension of day boating.
The Targa 58 GTO carries that philosophy into the upper end of the present range and is introduced by Fairline under the theme of combining open-air freedom with grand touring elegance. Rather than presenting the yacht only as a larger model, the builder is framing it as part of an evolution in how the Targa range balances outdoor use, cruising comfort and adaptable living spaces.
Four decades after the first Targa
The Targa story began in 1985 with the Targa 33, which Fairline records as the first model to carry the name. In 2004 the builder introduced Gran Turismo versions of larger Targa yachts with powered retractable hardtops, adding another strand to a range that had already become central to the Fairline identity.
Fairline marked its 50th anniversary in 2017 with the launch of the Targa 63 GTO, giving the GTO designation an established place in the company's more recent history. The current Targa family now includes the 40, 47 Open, 47 GT, 50 Edition and the new 58 GTO, providing several different interpretations of the same sports-cruising theme.
Built in Oundle
Fairline traces its first production yacht to the Fairline 19 in 1967 and continues to build in Oundle, where the company describes skilled craftspeople carrying yachts from initial construction through final testing. Its present range spans F//LINE, Targa, Squadron and Phantom, supported by an international authorised dealer network.
The Targa 58 GTO therefore arrives at Cannes as both a new model and part of a much longer British boatbuilding lineage. After its French Riviera launch, Fairline's own 2026 programme places the yacht at the Southampton Boat Show, giving the new Targa a second major public appearance later in September.
