Elan's GT6 brings exterior and interior work by Studio F. A. Porsche together with naval architecture from Humphreys Yacht Design. The 15.14-metre sailing yacht was developed for a combination of performance, daylight below and relaxed family cruising.
Design with practical consequences
The deck and coachroof form a distinctive profile, but the large cockpit and circulation routes are just as important on a yacht that will be sailed by a small crew. Buyers should examine access to winches, equipment lockers and the actual interior specification.
The builder's design photography shows a representative GT6, not every optional finish or cabin arrangement. Commissioning documents establish the delivered layout.
The published hull and rig
Elan quotes a 4.49m beam, 2.45m standard draft and 1.99m optional keel. It lists approximately 21.9m air draft, so overhead structures can matter as much as depth when considering a planned route.
Sail figures include a 62.6-square-metre mainsail and 51.14-square-metre jib. A vessel's real sail inventory and rig equipment should be checked before a passage.
Powertrain choices
The technical sheet includes a standard 57hp Yanmar, an 80hp alternative and an Oceanvolt electric propulsion option. Listed water and diesel capacities are approximately 500 and 300 litres respectively for the specified arrangements.
An electric drive calls for a close look at battery installation, charging and realistic motoring requirements. Neither power choice removes the need to plan fuel or energy reserves.
