The Fivezero develops Breedendam's recognisable design language
Breedendam's MTB range draws on classic fast patrol and motor-torpedo-boat proportions, but the Fivezero Convertible translates those references into a contemporary luxury weekender. The long foredeck, low profile and open cockpit are intended to feel timeless rather than deliberately retro.
Because each yacht can be customised, the visual identity provides a framework rather than a fixed specification. Owners can adjust materials, colours and interior details while retaining the underlying aluminium construction and distinctive Breedendam silhouette.
Aluminium construction supports bespoke building
The hull and superstructure are built in aluminium, giving the yard more flexibility to adapt details than would normally be available on a moulded composite production yacht. This suits Breedendam's low-volume approach, where individual owner requirements can influence the final arrangement.
The deep-V hull is designed to support comfortable higher-speed running in open water. Aluminium also allows structural and equipment choices to be integrated during construction rather than forcing every yacht to follow a single highly standardised factory configuration.
Twin IPS725 units target approximately 37 knots
Breedendam lists twin Volvo Penta IPS725 units rated at 510 horsepower each for the current design. The yard publishes an approximate maximum speed of 37 knots, giving the 15.6-metre yacht enough pace for fast coastal cruising and day trips between widely separated destinations.
The pod-drive installation also supports joystick handling in confined marinas and simplifies low-speed manoeuvring for an owner-driven yacht. Actual performance will depend on final specification, loading and sea conditions because the model remains under development rather than a one-configuration production boat.
The Convertible is aimed at highly personal ownership
Breedendam's approach is built around relatively few yachts and a high degree of owner involvement, making the Fivezero Convertible closer to a small custom project than a mainstream series cruiser. This lets buyers shape the atmosphere and practical use around their own cruising habits.
For LYG readers, the model shows that customisation is not limited to superyachts above 30 metres. A 15.6-metre yacht can still be individually engineered and finished when the builder's production model is designed around craftsmanship rather than volume.
