An alpine landmark returns under a new brand
Rimrock Banff has reopened in October 2026 as the first North American property in Accor's Emblems Collection. The established hotel above the town of Banff has undergone a major transformation while retaining its mountainside architecture and deep connection to the Canadian Rockies.
This is the collection's second global property after Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in England. The milestone is significant for travellers who prefer distinctive established hotels rather than new resorts designed to look identical in every destination.
An unusual position within Banff National Park
The resort is built into the mountainside high above Banff, with terraced architecture that looks across the Bow Valley. Its location within the protected national park makes the surrounding landscape fundamental to the guest experience.
Large windows and carefully oriented seating areas frame the views from inside the hotel. Visitors are encouraged to treat the mountain setting as part of the stay rather than simply the backdrop to a room reservation.
Three hundred and twenty guestrooms
The transformed resort offers 320 guestrooms, including 57 suites, styled with warm wood, natural stone and a palette inspired by the Rockies. The design brings residential comfort to a property long associated with Banff's dramatic scenery.
The use of natural textures is intended to link accommodation with the outdoors. Guests should inspect category descriptions because outlooks, room size and features will vary across the collection.
The Infinity Two-Bedroom Suite
Among the most distinctive accommodation is an Infinity Two-Bedroom Suite with a wraparound terrace of more than 1,260 square feet. The outdoor space includes a barrel sauna, fire table and extensive views over Banff National Park.
Its combination of privacy and a substantial terrace may be particularly appealing for families or guests planning a special occasion. The feature set is specific to that suite, not a guarantee for every room in the resort.
Wellness Studio suites
Rimrock also offers Wellness Studio suites featuring amenities for movement, recovery and sleep-focused relaxation. Access to the resort's Expeditions gear-lending programme connects those stays with its wider outdoor offering.
The suites are designed to help guests maintain preferred routines while travelling. They do not provide medical treatment and should not be represented as promising specific clinical health benefits.
A new hydrothermal Bathhouse
The resort's 9,600-square-foot Bathhouse introduces a comprehensive selection of indoor and outdoor thermal experiences. Guests can choose vitality and hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, a salt sauna, aromatic steam and glacial cold plunges.
A suspended meditation room and an Aurora sensory room add quieter options inspired by the natural environment. Guests with medical concerns should review the suitability of hot and cold treatments with qualified professionals.
Fitness and guided adventure
A separate 3,800-square-foot Active Centre houses Technogym and Peloton equipment along with climbing and bouldering walls. Guided classes allow visitors to complement outdoor activities with structured movement.
The Expeditions Centre offers more than 50 seasonal activities, including private hikes, forest bathing, alpine yoga, canyon ice walks and cultural encounters. Weather and operating conditions affect individual adventures, so itineraries should be confirmed before arrival.
Four distinct places to eat
Parker's Table is the signature restaurant, using seasonal Canadian ingredients and relationships with farmers, fishers and foragers. Rimrock Social functions as a central gathering space, while The Listening Room pairs rare spirits and wine with vinyl records.
Rimrock Market provides coffee, provisions and an informal atmosphere. Together the outlets allow guests to choose between special-occasion dining and shorter breaks during a day of exploring.
Alpine honey as a signature
Emblems Collection has selected alpine honey as Rimrock Banff's signature local ingredient, working with Alberta producer Highland Farm Honey. It appears in welcome drinks, selected foods and other small guest experiences.
A travel cake created with the brand's wider culinary concept uses pine needle cake and alpine-honey ganache. These touches reinforce the relationship between the resort and its local environment without replacing the wider restaurant menus.
A personal route into the Rockies
The resort's Master Pathfinder and wider Pathfinder team help guests plan experiences that connect them with Banff's natural setting and cultural heritage. The emphasis is on individual itineraries rather than one fixed group programme for every visitor.
Accor has confirmed the opening and principal facilities in its 7 October 2026 announcement. Rates, activity access and the exact services included in a stay should be confirmed with Rimrock Banff before booking.
