A yacht's journey to a festival can become a highlight rather than a routine delivery passage. Barcolana has added a Croatian Go to Barcolana route from Pula to Trieste for 9–10 October 2026, creating a new southern approach to the Autumn Cup.
The idea places Istria within a wider Adriatic gathering that already draws crews from neighbouring coasts. Private owners need to verify participation rules and the suitability of their individual vessel before treating the organised route as a cruising plan.
A start on the Istrian coast
Pula provides a departure point with Roman heritage and access to the Croatian side of the northern Adriatic. The route then leads north towards Trieste, connecting different coastal cultures through a shared sailing event.
The organisers describe this as the first Go to Barcolana from Croatia, rather than an established annual journey with an assumed schedule. Its inaugural nature makes current race instructions particularly important.
The crossing is the experience
Travelling alongside other crews can turn a destination transfer into a social part of the holiday, with the anticipated arrival shaping the itinerary. That sense of shared purpose is different from independently making a passage to a marina.
Participation does not eliminate navigational responsibility, border formalities or the need to monitor weather. A skipper must check the organiser's notices and relevant maritime authorities for the proposed dates.
Trieste beyond the finish
The arrival leads into a city where on-water racing, public gatherings and cultural events form a broad festival. A family member who is not racing can still enjoy the shore programme and a longer city stay.
Accommodation, restaurants and berthing may be busy during the Autumn Cup period, so a flexible plan is preferable. A race registration should never be mistaken for a guaranteed private berth.

The advertised dates of 9 and 10 October precede the main Barcolana regatta on 11 October, leaving room for a day around the waterfront. The precise start time and entry requirements must be checked directly with the event office.
LYG uses the event organiser's announcement and official route photograph, focusing on the journey and destination rather than making assumptions about boat class. An owner must still establish whether a 12–23.99-metre yacht is eligible.
