An important change for Venice travel plans

Belmond's official Hotel Cipriani website now states that the Giudecca Island hotel is closed and will reopen on 1 June 2027. Travellers considering an autumn or spring stay should treat that published date as decisive rather than assume rooms remain bookable.

The same notice says Cip's Club continues operating until 25 October, giving the restaurant a separate end-of-season timetable. Because dining availability can change independently from accommodation, bookings should be confirmed directly for any final service.

This is particularly important for guests arriving by private boat, who may know the property's waterside restaurants but not its current hotel status. A familiar name on a waterfront itinerary is not a substitute for checking which facilities are actually open.

The hotel's appeal during normal operations

Hotel Cipriani occupies a privileged location on Giudecca, with St Mark's Square reached by a short private shuttle journey across the lagoon. Its regular amenities include a large outdoor swimming pool, gardens, Dior Spa and a collection of signature suites.

The property's listed accommodation comprises 55 rooms, 20 suites and four signature suites, while its restaurant programme has included the Michelin-starred Oro. Those details describe the hotel generally, not services guaranteed during the current closure.

Belmond also advertises private event facilities and a marina, features relevant to travellers who build a Venice visit around water access. Arrangements for 2027 should be reassessed when the reopening programme and reservations are confirmed.

A different approach to the lagoon this season

Until normal hotel operations resume, luxury visitors can still enjoy the character of Venice from other properties. A canal-side itinerary can combine private water transfers, early museum visits and carefully timed dinners without depending on access to Cipriani's grounds.

The historic centre is best experienced at several speeds: a quiet morning on the lagoon, a walking programme through less crowded districts and an evening return by boat. Different locations create very different arrival and departure logistics.

Those arriving aboard larger yachts should verify their berth and tender transfer plan with local authorities and marina operators. Hotel launches and marina access may not be available to non-resident visitors during a closure period.

Looking ahead to summer 2027

The announced 1 June reopening creates a clear planning horizon for guests who regard Cipriani as an essential part of a Venice holiday. It also means that earlier travel dates will require an alternative hotel choice even if the broader city programme goes ahead.

Belmond describes a five-minute shuttle-boat connection to St Mark's Square during normal service. That proximity is valuable, but ferry schedules, guest access and restaurant reservations should be reconfirmed as reopening approaches.

The practical advice is simple: separate confirmed current availability from the hotel's longstanding reputation. The property's own published notice is the authoritative starting point for 2026 and 2027 bookings.
