Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has expanded its Special Happens programme with eight new experiences designed around access, culture and participation rather than conventional sightseeing. The additions stretch across several continents and are grouped into four themes: After Dark, In the Spotlight, Around the Table and In the Wild.
The range moves deliberately from food to music and outdoor adventure. That variety makes the programme less like a fixed hotel activity menu and more like a collection of reasons to choose one destination over another.
After Dark moves guests into unusual settings
At Fairmont Tokyo, a private experience takes over OFF RECORD, the hotel’s listening bar, with cocktails, music and a DJ-led journey through genres including J-Pop, UK rock, reggae and American soul. The stay also incorporates the Presidential Suite and additional city access.
At Fairmont Mayakoba, a separate experience takes guests into a cenote for a candlelit live performance. Canapés and Champagne accompany the music inside the limestone chamber, turning the natural setting into a temporary private venue.
Culture becomes something guests participate in
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi offers a full-day exploration of Emirati hospitality, including Arabic coffee and dates, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and time in the kitchen with Chef Muna Al Mansoori. The programme is built around food and personal interaction rather than observation alone.
At Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, guests can take part in a styling session and then perform with a live band at Chico Cabaret. The idea draws on the hotel’s entertainment history and makes the guest part of the story rather than simply an audience member.
Food experiences use access as the luxury element
Fairmont Quasar Istanbul offers an after-hours journey through the Spice Bazaar once the public has left. A master merchant guides guests through the history and ingredients of the market before they create a spice blend and continue to a private chef-led dinner.
In Boston, Fairmont Copley Plaza stages its annual Holiday Bacchanal Dinner inside the hotel’s historic lobby. Champagne, live music and a five-course wine-paired menu turn a grand public space into a one-night dining room.
Winter adventure gets a more private format
Fairmont Tremblant’s Beyond the Slopes experience begins with chauffeured transport from Montréal and includes first tracks with a private guide before the mountain opens to the public. A private winter dome, Champagne, the Presidential Suite and in-suite dining extend the experience after skiing.
