Fairmont returns to New Orleans in November

Fairmont New Orleans is accepting reservations for stays beginning 2 November 2026, marking the planned return of the Fairmont brand to the city after two decades. The hotel will occupy part of the former Bank of New Orleans building at 1010 Common Street, bringing 250 rooms and suites alongside restaurants, a rooftop pool, bars and a spa. Accor announced the reservations milestone in October, ahead of the scheduled opening.

The distinction between taking bookings and welcoming the first guests is important. As of the announcement, the property was preparing to open rather than reporting a completed debut. Travellers considering early-November dates should confirm the final opening arrangements and the availability of individual services, especially if a particular restaurant, spa treatment or pool visit is central to the itinerary.

A new use for a downtown landmark

The property has been developed by Kailas Companies within seventeen storeys of the former Bank of New Orleans, a thirty-one-storey building designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in 1970. The redevelopment is intended to retain the landmark's urban character while introducing accommodation and hospitality spaces for a different generation of visitors. Its location places guests near the French Quarter and the Superdome.

New Orleans offers a blend of architecture, music, food and cultural experiences that extends far beyond a hotel lobby. A central address can make exploring easier, although walking times vary with weather, mobility and the exact destination. The property describes itself as being around fifteen minutes on foot from important downtown attractions. Guests planning a busy schedule should establish practical routes and transport options.

Two hundred and fifty guestrooms and suites

The hotel plans 250 guestrooms and suites, including Fairmont Gold accommodation with an elevated lounge experience. Published room descriptions refer to marble entryways, spacious layouts, sunlit areas and bathrooms designed with comfort in mind. Some categories offer views over the city, while larger suites provide separate spaces suited to a more extended stay.

The official photograph released with the opening announcement shows a completed-looking guestroom, but it should not be taken as representative of every booked category. Views, room area, sleeping arrangements and accessibility provisions differ. Guests should select the specific configuration that meets their needs rather than assume all accommodation offers a soaking tub, additional sitting room or a particular skyline outlook.

Emeril Lagasse shapes the dining programme

A major component of the new Fairmont is its partnership with chef Emeril Lagasse and his team. Delmonico Steakhouse is planned for the lobby level, with interiors inspired by the atmosphere of the 1970s, while The Café by Emeril offers another way to experience New Orleans food culture. The group presents the restaurants as an important part of the hotel's appeal to visitors and local residents alike.

The presence of a well-known chef is not a substitute for checking current menus and reservations. A restaurant can have different opening arrangements from the hotel itself, particularly during a launch period. Travellers who want a particular dining experience should confirm that it will be serving on their dates and clarify any booking or dress requirements. The surrounding city also provides a wide range of independent culinary choices.

Rooftop leisure with city views

The development includes a rooftop pool and lounge, with Accor highlighting the elevated setting and sweeping views across New Orleans and the Mississippi River. Third Measure is planned as an intimate rooftop bar, while Bleu Perdu will provide a poolside lounge. Together, the spaces are intended to create a social destination beyond the accommodation floors.

A rooftop attraction can be affected by weather, capacity and operating hours, and not every visitor will necessarily have access to all areas at all times. Pool use may be subject to guest policies or reservations for particular seating. Before booking a stay primarily for the views, guests should check which parts of the rooftop will be operational and whether additional charges apply for cabanas or special events.

A sizeable spa and wellness offer

Fairmont New Orleans is preparing a spa of approximately 10,000 square feet alongside a fitness centre. Accor's earlier development announcement describes treatment spaces, a couples suite and thermal facilities, while the hotel's current listing identifies a wellness centre and treatment rooms. These amenities are designed to complement the energy of the surrounding city with a quieter experience inside the property.

Specific treatment menus and prices are subject to the hotel's final arrangements, and published descriptions of facilities should not be mistaken for a medical claim. Guests wanting a spa day, or planning a celebration that involves hair and makeup services, should check the availability of appointments in advance. During the first weeks of operation, current confirmation from the hotel is more reliable than an earlier development prospectus.

Events and a distinctive city presence

The hotel includes more than 19,000 square feet of meeting and event space, intended for gatherings ranging from business functions to weddings and galas. A double-height ballroom is one of the signature features. Its illuminated appearance is designed to make the hotel a recognisable presence along the street, supporting Accor's ambition to make it an important social address for New Orleans.

Such facilities broaden the hotel's role beyond overnight stays. Guests may encounter conferences, celebrations and other events that influence the atmosphere of public spaces. Anyone organising a private function should obtain detailed capacity, access and catering information, while leisure visitors should check whether a major event could affect restaurant or lounge availability. An attractive ballroom photograph cannot substitute for an approved event plan.

Planning the first season of stays

The official Fairmont site lists reservations beginning on 2 November and promotes packages that combine accommodation with city experiences. One offer includes a daily hotel credit and a history tour of the French Quarter on eligible stays, with a two-night minimum and further conditions. Another option includes breakfast, while some member rates offer separate benefits.

These offers should be compared using the complete quoted price, taxes, cancellation policies and the actual inclusions available on the selected dates. The hotel is scheduled to open on 2 November, but travellers should monitor official updates in case any final arrangements change. The 250-room property will add a new luxury base in the central business district, with its full guest experience becoming clearer once operations begin.
